Without one of these discs, you cannot install! The installation will not proceed unless you already possess a genuine Windows XP CD to verify that you are "eligible for this upgrade". Most importantly though, when the USB was ready to use and an attempt was made to install this onto another laptop, it came up with a Microsoft "verification" check during Windows Setup. ![]() (Laptop used has a 7th gen intel Core i3 with 4 GB of RAM, so more than capable for such task)ĭuring the creation of the USB, 1 Trojan virus was detected by Panda security and was eliminated immediately and moved to quarantine, so not sure if it made the transfer to the USB or not. I used Rufus to create the USB and it took nearly 6 HOURS from start to finish. As a result, Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, as well as Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2003, were installed by users more quickly than it otherwise might have been. ![]() Ignore the review posted by "Ethan Queen", I am actually someone who went through the whole process of trying this and can confirm the following findings In versions of Windows after and including Windows 2000 SP3 and Windows XP, updates can be automatically downloaded and installed if the user selects to do so.
